Who can bring dependants?

Eligibility varies depending on the main visa holder's immigration route. Recent rule changes have introduced restrictions for some Skilled Workers, care workers and Student Visa holders, while other routes continue to allow eligible family members to apply.

  • Skilled Workers – dependant eligibility can depend on the skill level of the sponsored role and when the main applicant's sponsorship began.
  • Care Workers – restrictions apply to new dependant applications, subject to transitional arrangements.
  • Student Visa holders – only certain students can bring dependants under the current rules.
  • Other visa routes – dependant rights vary and should be checked against the specific immigration route.
